The Ciénaga de Zapata Conservation Company, an entity whose functions are closely linked to the protection and sustainable use of forest resources in this southern Matanzas territory, has a patrimony of 491 325 hectares, of which 363,489 hectares ( 74%) hold the categories of protective and conservation forest. It extends throughout the south of the province of Matanzas, delimited to the north by the National Highway. It covers areas of the municipalities of Unión de Reyes, Jagüey Grande and Calimete and the entire territory of the Ciénaga de Zapata municipality, where its Central Office is located.
Its antecedents go back to the revolutionary triumph, which marked the beginning of a vast plan of afforestation of this area where until that date only exploitation actions were carried out. Since then it has been present with various denominations in the management of forest and wildlife resources in the area.
In November 2011, the implantation of the Business Management and Direction System was approved, through Resolution of the Ministry of Economy and Planning and on December 30, 2015, its integration into the Flora and Fauna Business Group was authorized.
In addition to the aforementioned units, the Company has two other UEBs: Insurance and Comprehensive Technical Services.
SOCIAL OBJECT OF THE COMPANY
The Company's corporate purpose was modified by Resolution No. 347, dated December 30, 2015, of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, in its SIXTH Resolution, being as follows:
Provide protection and conservation services for exotic species of flora and fauna in the areas it administers. By Resolution No. 21/2016 dated January 28, 2016, the Director General of the Company was considered as secondary and support activities. , derived from the corporate purpose, the following:
Prepare and execute projects related to the areas it administers, aimed at: conservation and protection of flora and fauna, soils, fire prevention and combat, environmental education, surveillance and protection, management plans and operational management plans.
Carry out the promotion, management and management of forests.
Marketing forest, wood and non-wood products.
Marketing forest and fruit stands, artisanal and industrial products made from wood, as well as charcoal.
Provide construction service for rustic works.
Provide wood sawing and re-sawing services.
Marketing agricultural products and services.
Offer cargo and passenger transportation services.
Provide workshop services.
Provide construction, repair and maintenance services for minor works and roads.
Provide dining, cafeteria and recreation services to the entity's workers.

Marketing species of fauna, as well as by-products derived from them.
Provide services of exhibitions of species of fauna and flora, in the stations and natural areas it manages.
Provide nature, adventure and rural tourism services in the protected and natural areas it administers, as well as specialized activities that complement these services.
Provide tourist guide services in the areas and facilities of its heritage.
Marketing promotional objects typical of the protected areas it administers and the species that inhabit them.
Provide light gastronomy services in the protected areas and stations it manages.
Market recyclable waste from its production and service process.
